Administrative documents and processes

Important documents and processes for Friends of the Earth local groups.

04 Oct 2022

Our network is merging. Since 2019 we have supported our Friends of the Earth Local Groups and Climate Action Groups in different ways. So that we can better support our growing network we’ll be merging the two network strands together over the next few months, to allow a consistent onboarding process for new groups, and a new central website resource to support your campaigning activity and momentum.

This will mean there’ll be changes to the local group charter and trademark licence agreement. New groups wanting to register should either register as a Climate Action Group or contact [email protected] if you have any questions about registering.

Local group charter

Local groups work in partnership with the national Friends of the Earth body to promote our shared vision while enjoying some autonomy in their local campaigning activity. The parties function in harmony with one another under a set of values and behaviours outlined in this charter.

All licensed local groups are covered by Friends of the Earth's Public & Products Liability and Employer's Liability insurance policy.

Undertaking an activity not covered by our insurance makes the individuals concerned – and Friends of the Earth – liable for the full cost of any claim.

Make sure to read the insurance guidance to check whether your activity is covered.

Please note that for any in person activity at the moment you'll need to factor COVID-19 into your regular event risk assessment and share it with a relevant regional staff member to ensure your group is covered by our insurance. Find out more about insurance coverage during COVID-19.

If you need to prove you are covered by our insurance, please present the insurance certificates along with a copy of your Trademark Licence Agreement to the authorities.

Please post all required documents to the address indicated in the application form.
